Are you going through a patch of loneliness and you don’t know how to get out of it? Don’t worry; we all have our rough times, and we all need help to get out of it. That’s why we’re here to offer a few ways to help you get out of the funk.
Most Successful Single Women are Lonely at Times
Don’t look at your loneliness as a negative thing. Learn from history: most successful single women were lonely because they took the time to focus on themselves. Oprah was single at the time when she became successful, and Coco Chanel, Queen Latifah, and Jane Austen are all super famous but never married. However, their lives have improved beyond their belief and they have great friends and relationships to prove it. You just have to get out there and remain open to all the possibilities that are available for the busy; yet, focused lifestyle.
Commitment is Stressful but Necessary for Success
While we realize that commitment is stressful with everything else going on in your life, it is also very essential to your success. Being committed to your goals or responsibilities is necessary for success. Working hard hours to improve your work will normally lead to promotions. Taking the weekends to review a case fully, may result in a win. Going over financial reports for hours in one day will definitely land you that big client. In short, if you’re putting in the work for success, you have nothing to be ashamed of. You just have to learn how to allow some time for yourself as well. Make a schedule for work, as well as a schedule for you. Know when to take a break and be confident that your ethics are still in place.
Commit to “Fun” Like You Commit to Work
Sometimes you just need to have some fun. Just as you force yourself to focus on your work, similarly, you have to learn to force yourself to take time off and have fun too. Schedule weekends of no work and all play. Or, simply relax.
Reach out to Friends & Family Even When You’re not in the Best Mood
Don’t push your loved ones away. Whatever happens, they are the only constants in your life. Cherish them and learn to spend time with them, even if you are in a bad mood. Sometimes, a simple lunch with a friend will ease much tension with work. Going to a ballgame with with guys will give you a chance to relieve some stress, eat well needed junk food, and of course- have a good time.
Host Dinner Parties, Cook-outs, etc.
The best way to surround yourself with people is to throw a party. HostTry hosting dinner parties or cookouts; this will be a great chance to catch up with old friends and an opportunity to meet new people as well. Nothing formal is needed; just call up the gang. You’ll be surprised at how many other people need some well deserved time off.
Join Community Events
Try participating in community events such as setting up the local charity fairs. This will give you a chance to meet new people, and will also give you a new cause to work towards and apply yourself to. Think of it as a ‘Catch 22’ for the workaholic. You’re not at work, but you’re still working- you’re just having fun at the same time.
Become a Big Sister to an Aspiring Young Lady
There are plenty of young ladies needing role models. If you see a young aspiring lady in need of some guidance, be there for her and become her Big Sister. Mentor her, and in the process, you’ll get out of your funk in no time.
Recognize When You Become Lonely & Do Something About it
Don’t ignore your loneliness, learn to acknowledge it instead. The next step is to figure out what works to help you get over your loneliness, and then just focus on doing that. Don’t worry about what others think or suggest, just do what works for you.
